Default 07 F150 XLT Key Pad

Ok, Please bear with me on this whole long drawn out story, but I think I've exhausted most of my options up to this point.

I have an 07 F150 4x4 XLT Scab. I want to install a key pad keyless entry system on the truck, but I don't particularly care for the aftermarket (stick on) versions that I can get. In searching for my options, I stopped by my local Ford dealership to see what the price differences would be between the stick on (less than ideal) and the door handle assy (ideal). The gentleman in the parts dept told me that I could not order and install the handle assy because there is something missing called the RKE module (sounds like remote keyless entry to me). If the truck had come with the keypad installed, it would already have an RKE module and I would be able to install the door handle assy. I have been researching this on the forum here and from what I could find, it seemed to be a fairly simple plug and play issue to install the assy (I was hoping to find one in a salvage yard) as long as I could take the door panel apart and plug it into the harness in the door. Another relevant piece of information that they kept asking me was whether my truck has the remote entry, which it does.

Which brings me to my question. Was the guy at the dealership correct in telling me that I could not install an OEM door handle assy? I would love to get some input from people with firsthand knowledge and experience, whether it be someone who works for Ford or someone who has done this themselves. Thanks for reading this, hope to hear back soon about it.

you can install a keypad in your truck, you will need to get the unlock code from the dealer, i believe they need to call in and find it out, any truck with keyless can have the keypad on the door, if you pop off the panel, you should see the harness in the door. it comes as an option, my 07 has it. just another dealer who don't know anything.

you may have to pay to have your dealer get your code. or you can find the code, after you yank the backseat out and find the 5 digit code.

Do you mean the code that came on a card with the manual? I have that code, as it was still in the manual when I bought the truck.

And that backseat is not easy to get off. I had the guy that installed my 2nd amp today cut the little clips so it comes off quicker after you remove the seatbelt dill.
