Mine keeps the rain out but would leak if I poured a water hose on it, too. Not sure what the issue is. It does well for the average rain.

I bought a used rear window with a manual slider from eBay. I figured I'd take a chance with it, after reading all the stories of them leaking. Installed it without replacing all the butyl tape gunk, simply using what was already on the windows frame.
Its been in the truck now for over a year, and no leaks anywhere.

They are not supposed to leak. There was a thread on this site that describes how to replace the seals on the slider.

Did anyone ever find out if the trough that the sliding window slides in drains? Like are there drain holes in the channel or no? Because my rear sliding window rubber seal doesn't go across the entire sliding window and the two corners have gaps too that allow water into the track itself!
