Default 05' no heat

I have a 2005 F150 5.4L 4x4 STX super cab

I have no heat....

heater lines are both hot

the "****" turns without any resistance which seems funny.... I pulled the **** off its not stripped but the shaft will turn forever either direction Is theat normal?

read about the "blend door" Any way to check it?

I was hoping the check engine light would tell me so I went to Autozone and all it said was mass air flow so I need to clean it....

The trucks temp comes to half way like it should....

I would replace the blend door actuator, sounds like the culprit. I got an OEM unit off Amazon for around $40

If your blower still works and it's just temp control not working that would be my fix, but I'm no expert.

In the old days when you turned the heat control **** there was a cable from the **** to the flow valve on the inlet side of the heater core. Now it's all done electronically or perhaps pneumatically... so you won't feel any friction from cable drag. No drag is the new normal. The dash is fairly easy to take apart if you have some cheap panel removal tools and screwdrivers or nutdrivers. I think mcmagnum12 is probably right but the only way to truly find out is to dive into the under dash area and figure it out. This isn't rocket surgery.

there are 2 actuators in the HVAC system, both electrically controlled.

BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR - controls the hot/cold

MODE DOOR ACTUATOR - controls where the air comes out

BEfore you go just replacing stuff, I would go find the blend door actuator and take it off. Then you can manually move the "lever" the actuator moves and see if it actually changes the temp of the air.

Old thread I know but, there are 4 actuators. Can you tell me which one is the blend door and its location? Thanks

The actual number depends on entirely what you you are working on and which climate control system is installed. You need to identify in your post what you have.

The correct answer for the number of actuators in the truck's HVAC system in the original post is either three or four. Early 05's had two mode actuators, later production had only one. The temperature blend actuator is behind the radio and the top of the globalize in either event.
