A/C Is out for some reason....Simple Fix?
My a/c went out in my truck and has been out for about 4 months now. Money is tight and that's the reason I haven't gotten it fixed yet, but lord knows I want to. Anyways, it just stopped working one day out of the blue, but it would kick back on every once in a while but now it doesn't do it anymore. I was able to locate what I think is the condenser (right underneath the glove box) which is the thing that is cold and sometimes drips right? Well right next to that is a little round globe which i think is the motor. Well, i took the back end of a screw driver and banged on the globe part and my a/c would come back on. I was able to do that for about 5 times, but now it's not working anymore. Does anyone know what's wrong and how to fix it and about how much if it's something I can't do myself?
Thanks!
Thanks!

hmmm...the evaporator is whats under the dash, the condenser is infront of the radiator.
as mentioned, are you getting outside temp air from the vents or no air from the vents?

Thanks for the replies.
The a/c was cold when it was blowing. I guess it makes sense that the blower motor went out. I just didn't know if it could be something simple like a fuse or something? But, if it is a bad motor, do any of you guys know how I can fix it? Do I have to take it to a shop or is it something that I can do myself?
Once again, thanks for your help.

Do you have air blowing through your vents? If so can you turn the fan speed **** and make it go through the different speeds? If you dont have any air coming through your vents, then it could be a couple of things. First, check your fuses. See if any of them are blown. If that is not the issue, check your blower motor resistor for any burned up wires or connections, replace that no matter what. They run around 20 bucks I think. The blower motor runs around 125 I think. Whether or not it comes with the cage I dont know. You might have to use your old cage. If you look under your hood, next to the firewall on the passenger side, you'll see a black round looking part that is help on by 4 or 5 screws. That is where your blower motor is located. The resistor is right below it or to the right of it. You might have to move a few things to get to it, but it is a very simple fix and you can do it yourself without having to take it to a mechanic. Get you a haynes or chiltons manual and it will give you step by step directions of how to replace those items. Good luck and holler if you need any further help!
