Do any of you have the aux trans cooler?
My theory is its the trans cooler valve barely opening. Trans fluid only goes to the cooler when the valve opens. When its really cold less than 20 it doesnt need the cooler to maintain the temps, but the 30-20 range it uses the cooler just a little bit

LIke I said, i don't have a CAI and it has whistled since day one. Only this past week has it run with the gots mod with no difference in "whistle". I did notice however there were several (maybe 6 or 8) 1/4 holes drilled in the bottom of the plastic intake tube but i thought they might be factory because they were all spaced out perfect and didn't have burrs. (or someone actually took their time and made it look oem) But that doesn't explain my dads 4.6 that makes the same noise under that exact same circumstances. The alternator bearings is something in never thought of. Could I spray some dry lubricant or something on them to make it better?

Thanks for all the help. I'll look into the bearing in the next few days. Not a big deal, I've been living with it for this long. I just thought if it was cheap and easy i'd take a look. Thanks again.

I have the same noise as this video. It'll come and go with acceleration.
I'm assuming this is the same issue the OP is having.
Anyone have this same noise? Was it the alternator?

EXACTLY! Yes that is the exact noise i'm talking about. I'll try some penetrating lubricant and see if that helps things. I'm not expecting much seeing how it comes and goes with the temp.

My 05 5.4 F150 has the same whistle below 30 degrees for the last 3 years. I brought it into a dealership, drove it with them and they immediately ID the alternator as the noise source. I was told nothing can be done and it is harmless; just annoying.....
