Default What To Look For When Buying Used F150?

"Hi" from across the pond (UK)! I'm going to view a 2007 4x4 F150 and it being the first F150 I will potentially own, I'm not too sure of what the common faults are and what I should look out for/test prior to buying the truck?

I'm a very amateur mechanic so any information, however obvious, will be of use .

For starters, definitely ask if the truck has ever been tuned up. That is, if it still has OEM spark plugs in it. These 3V Triton engines tend to be a real PITA with them, because of carbon buildup that results in not being able to get them out.

Another is to ask if the truck has ever had a major engine overhaul. Since these trucks have variable valve timing, the cam phasers and tensioners eventually wear out, meaning an overhaul is in need.

X1000

08 and newer is the best option, especially if you dont want to be turning wrenches on your own.
