04-08 with 97-08 styling
Hello to all. I'm a new member. I have a 97 model that I bought new. A friend just called and said he bought a 2004 model and he asked me to look it over. When I saw it the first thing I said was, "That can't be a 2004 because it has the 97-03 styling". He brought out the paperwork and the owner's manual which said 2004 and the sticker on the doorpost said"assembled 03(March) 04. The truck was beat looking and 166K miles, I don't know why he would get into it anyway, plus he paid a premium price ($7100 less $1,000 trade for a PT cruiser). Does anybody know if some of the older styled F150's were carried over into 2004?

This is not a heritage model. It said it was a "Commercial" model, the absolute cheapest model that could be bought. No chrome, plain upholstery, reg cab, manual trans, 6 cyl, white paint.

I wouldn't know for sure, honestly. Fleet/commercial vehicles don't generally have any badging beyond the basic manufacturer and model badges.
Check the VIN to be sure, but I'm betting it's an 04 Heritage model that was sold as a Fleet vehicle. The Heritage was only available with a V6 and manual transmission.
I also just read on Wikipedia the 97-04 style F150 is still being built and sold in Mexico with the V6 as the only engine - maybe it's a truck from Mexico?
Edit: OK, looks like there's two different heritage editions. One is a 2003 MY that's a 100th Anniversary model.
The other is the 2004 MY with a 99-03 body style, which is the one we're concerned with here.

A VIN check will answer all this. But I agree, it's prolly a Heritage. The story about the Heritage model has little to do with styling and options, and more to do with it's assembly date.

Thanks for all the help. The price was 7100 or 6100 plus the trade, still way over what I would have paid. I know in 97 the F250s still had the 93-96 styling and it was hard to convince people that it's really a 97. When it was new they must have played hell selling it if you could buy the same truck with the newer styling for the same price. I'm surprised FoMoCo would even bother.
