'04 Leak
OK, I have an 04 crew cab which I did spill a little bit of water in but it was long ago. Since then, I think I have the passenger side dry and then I will lift the mat and see a spot. I clean it with the shop vac and let it dry without a mat there and later, it returns. This last time was after a week or so of heavy rain. Has anyone had an issue with water getting into the passenger side (front) of their truck? I can't see a leak and it could be leftover from the water that I spilled but don't think so. Any suggestions? Thanks,

the exact same thing happens in the back of my moms suburban
we forgot about a bag of ice a while back i wish i could tell you how to get rid of it but i dont |
Same problem with my 04, but have yet to find the problem. I really haven't looked at it that much though. But you are not alone. Gets into mine only when it rains, too.

Thanks for the reply, I thought I was alone. I fixed the leaky third brake light that I understand is also a known problem. The gasket was bunched up. Outside of that, I can't see where water gets in. If I find it, I'll post it. Please do the same.
Thanks, |
Ford issued a TSB for the third brake light leaking. If under warranty they replace the light assembly to fix it. If your out of warranty you can fix it by replacing the weatherstripping between the light assembly and the cab.

Hey whitecrystal1, thanks for the heads up. I have an '04 STX, and everytime it rains, or I take it thru the automatic car wash, it leaks from the passenger side headliner, at the back glass. My truck is long out of warrenty, does the dealership only sell this item, or can I pick it up @ advanced or o'reilys? Do you know how muchit runs, and how difficult it is?

Other have just resealed the light assembly with some weather stripping at Lowe's and Home Depot. Some have used RTV but you may have trouble removing it later if you do that. Or you can just go to the dealer and buy a new complete light assembly, I think it runs around 50$. I would try the weather stripping first if it were me.

Is this in the front passenger floorboard? There is a TSB for a leak in the A-pillar up there that would be your problem if that is where the leak is. I used to have the TSB actually printed out, I will try to find it if you need it.
