04 Grinding in front end (not vacuum hubs)

my 04 4x4 xlt had the right side vacuum hub go out, so I replaced that and the solenoid. Pulled the left side apart and cleaned/greased the vac hub. Everything was fine for about a week and this problem started. it sounds like it is coming from the front drivers side. I have checked over the suspension parts and anything I could think of. Any ideas?

Did you test the hub or just assuming it works?

when the truck is in the air and running in 2wd the wheel spins freely without any noises. in 4wd spinning the wheel spins the cv shaft.

pulled it apart and the diaphragm is good and moves freely, teelth look good. its in as good of shape as the new one I put in. I don't think its the problem.

Why don't you go rent a vacuum pump from your local parts store and troubleshoot it properly...

IWE could be leaking and not holding enough vacuum to keep it fully disengaged. Im with Tech on this one. You need to do a vacuum test with a gauge.

^^^^^ This and that is why I asked. You cannot assume anything and cannot get much help here unless you rule out parts with certainty. Otherwise you are just tossing parts at it hoping to find the problem.

Get a vacuum tester from your local parts store on a loan a tool program. Test that IWE and rule it out or find out it is the problem. You cannot tell by the way you are testing.

It needs to hold vacuum once applied. If it leaks down at all, you have found your issue.
