04 FX4 Transmission issues

04 FX4 Transmission issues
Driving home today my 04 FX4 with 98k miles, the transmission suddenly just comes out of gear. I shift into 2nd and the transmission catches and i'm able to drive. I shift back to Drive and it catches for a brief moment and then out of gear again. Rpm's rev, but nothing else. thoughts?

just heard back from the dealer. they think it is the overdrive snap ring rather than the transmission, which is a good thing. quoted me approx $715 to fix.

so, it did end up being the overdrive snap ring. they got it fixed with no other issues and cost was $699. Overall, i guess i'm happy with how it turned out versus some sort of transmission issue. SMLDUCKS--good call on purchasing the warranty. I really wish I would have....

LUCKY! I had the same thing happen on my 06 F150 STX w/ 4.6L with 51k on the clock. I unfortunately wasn't lucky and it turned out to be my entire transmission grenading itself.
