'04 FX4 plug issue
While changing the plugs on my FX4, I have stubborn plug that stayed but the threaded ring came out. Anyone have any clever tricks for removing the whole ceramic piece? Any help would be appreciated!

There is a TSB on this. There is a tool that you can use to remove the plug if it broke. check this sticky thread out: https://www.f150forum.com/f4/5-4l-3v...09-07-a-56871/

Unfortunately it didn't break, just the full ceramic piece with bottom metal ring stuck. I have the plug remover but it is only good if the plug is broken, not sure how to remove the full piece?

Moved to the 2004-2008 section. Good luck!

I had this happen to me this weekend also. I just took a long flat head screw driver and "GENTLY" leveraged the electrode of the plug inside the cavity and broke it in half. Didn't take any effort at all. Then I grabbed it with my pliers, set it aside, and proceeded with the Lisle tool.
Hope this helps |
Thanks I was wondering if that was the only solution....guess I'll give it a go!

Just be sure to vacuum or use compressed air and clean in there often...especially after you remove the plugs. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, it took some time and patience but it's done! That 3rd and 4th plug on the pass side are a big pain....thanks again!
