Dropped the pan, and it certainly has metal shavings/pieces from bearings in there. Im guessing this is shot and needs an overhaul. Thoughts?

Yup, I am calling around to see what my options are. Going to price out a rebuild from a local trustworthy shop, or get a whole new one with torque converter, and then replace it. Followed up flushing radiator lines.

I’m curious how many miles on truck, if you know anything re: service history, and whether the yellow plug was in pan?

also, did you determine where the list fluid went?

The truck has 145k on it. Service history I am unsure of. The guy had mentioned the filter and oil being replaced. There was no manufacturer plug found in the pan. Another thing to note is we did not have to break the pan free with a pry bar or anything. As soon as we had two or three blots out, the oil was flowing out. That certainly indicates to me that someone had been in there. I bought the vehicle from a private party. The truck was posted on my company message board. I bought it from the husband of a coworker, who said his father was selling his truck, which is why this one was for sale. I had intended on checking the transfer case to see if there was tranny fluid in there, but did not have the time unfortunately.
