Default 04 F150 XLT won't start

I just replaced a fuse for the trailer towing left turn signal and now my truck won't start. I'm hearing a clicking sound with the key off that seems to be coming from somewhere behind the cab under the front of the bed. When I turn the key, nothing, it doesn't even attempt to turn over. What the heck is going on?

Btw it is a very rapid clicking, can't even count the clicks its so fast. Key is no out of ihnition and its still doing it. But every once in a while it stop and is replaced by a clicking coming from the fuse box then goes back to making the noise from under the bed

Check fuse 32 & 34 . If blown look at FPDM .

Both fuses are intact and of the proper amperage, clicking didn't stop when I pulled both fuses. Only stopped when I unhooked battery but continued when I reconnected battery tefminal

If you pull the fuse out that you replaced does it stop ? Looking in my Chilton's book but can't find anything under the truck near the back of the cab that could make any noise . When FPDM went out on my truck the EVAP solenoid on the fire wall was going crazy like what you are describing . But I'll keep looking for you.

I pulled the fuse back out and the noise continued. Hooked jumpers to my wifes explorer and it started right up. Talked to a guy I know who used to be a dealer mechanic at our local ford dealer and he thinks I've got a short somewhere. I just noticed when my key is one the red security light on the dash blinks about the same speed as the clicking sound. No clicking coming from engine bay.

Sounds like a short obviously , but the clicking in that area of the truck has me stumped . Only thing I can find in that area of truck has to do with the EVAP system .

Could it be my battery? Took the battery out of the wifes 06 explorer, dropped it in the F150, hooked up the cables and she fired right up, not clicking either. I'm totally stumped.

Of course if it is the battery that doesn't explain the phantom clicking sound coming from nowhere and the fact that the key wasn't even in the ignition when the noise was happening

Maybe the PCM was trying to run the "Engine Off Natural Vacuum EVAP Leak Check Monitor," but couldn't because the battery voltage was too low (which caused the EVAP solenoid to click rapidly).

Strange, but hey , if its ok now you got off easy lol . They can do weird things with low battery power.
