I have an 04 Lariat 2wd with a 5.4. It has 46,000 on it and I haven't had any problems out of it other than the belt squeeks when it is wet (after it rains or when it is raining) but it stops when it dries out.

I have the same truck your looking at. Have 98,000 on it and would drive it anywhere. Did put Edge Tuner on it this weekend. Changed the spark plug at 90,000 tires at 55.000 no issue at all. Hope this helps.

If it has the 7 pin and 4 pin hook ups does it have the towing package for sure? Should there be any worries towing a 16ft all steel trailer with a built jeep?

I worked at a Dodge dealer for a while and you know that tranny problems run rampant when techs are diagnosing transmission replacement needs BEFORE they even see the car/truck. Just by reading the complaint on the tickets, they knew that the tranny was shize. The only car I remember in recent Mopar history that didn't suffer from tranny issues was the Neon.

I've got a 2004 5.4 lariat also with 80,000 miles and it runs awesome with no major problems so far. I wouldnt worry about 50,000.

Well, I did it anyway, I bit the bullet and bought a dodge. I've been bit twice. Dodge may have tranny issues, but at least it has a lifetime warrenty. Good luck
