Default 04 F150 Lariat

I am thinking of changing trucks. I have a 04 F250 Supercab 4x4 with a 5.4 and starting to lose confidence in the motor. I am looking at a 04 F150 Super Crew Lariat 4x4 with a 5.4 with 50,000 miles. Should I be scared of the 5.4 with that many miles with it being a 04?

I wouldn't be. 12,000 is the average miles per year. If you assume the truck was bought in late 03, thats 5 years (actually a bit more). But at 5 years, it should be about 60,000 miles.

You have nothing to worry about. My '04 Screw Lariat has 212,000 (Km) on it. It runs perfectly. Mind you, i got it at an auction sale for $8000 with 190,000 Km on it. So i don't know if its gone through any major repairs or not. But in the 20,000 that i've put on it (in about 8 or 9 months) i have had to do nothing to it.

I have just heard horror stories about the 2004 model F150's with 5.4's. I had a 97 with 4.6 and loved it.

Then I should restate what I said - don't be worried about it because of the miles. As for that year/engine size, can't say

Well you know someone will always have issues, and that someone is me. I bought my used with 15,000 miles on it. At 70,000 miles, I had to get the transmission rebuilt. Now at 78,000 miles, I'm told the main bearing is going out.

I change oil regularly and I don't pull anything.

My last 2 ford trucks

2000 F150 Lariat - Burned due to cruise control switch
2004 F150 Lariat - Lost transmission and engine before 80,000

Time to buy a Dodge, I guess

do not buy a dodge unless your willing to settle for cheap parts that like to break. they are nice trucks but the f-150 is way more reliable than the 1500 hemi
