well come to find out it was my gauge that was broke..I noticed the compressor was coming on and shutting off every 6-8 seconds which led me to believe my compressor was fine so I for the sake of not dropping 150 bucks on a new compressor decided to add some 134a to the system just to see what would happen...can and a half later ac blowing cold. going to monitor it over time to make sure I don't have a leak somewhere but seeing as this is the first time ive had to add any refrigerant to the truck in 10 years I'm sure this was just normal thanks for all the suggestion this site really is awesome tons of support !

Not "normal" for freon to evaporate . If you added a can and a half, you have a leak somewhere. Its just a matter of time before it looses its charge.

You have a leak my friend, just pray and hope its not the evaporator coil under the dash!
Good luck. There should be a label under your hood stating how much 134a the system takes. If you put 1.5 cans in, you may be getting close.
