put new plugs in it first....hope you have access to a rotunda plug tool, if they are the only plugs i got a feeling your gonna break some...if the tranny is slipping, which is possible with that kinda mileage, a rebuild is in order.

With that many miles, you will most likely need the rotunda tool.Snapon.com has them for about 100bucks.I got mine thru the snap on guy who delivers to my friends shop. And for the small diesel sound,do a search on here for that and you will find out why.For the most part the sound is normal.Mine always makes that sound and its normal.Just the cam phasers. The first time i head the sound i posted on here about it and took it to 4shops and all said the same thing.Normal sound and also on here when i posted about it,normal.Just get used to it.If its slipping then attom is right, time for a rebuild most likely

I started using Mobile1 Synthetic oil and Ford oil filters and my Diesel sound went away. Worth a try.

With that many miles count on broken plugs and a trans rebuild. Just facts of life with ANY vehicle... well not broken plugs.
