I am going to be adding some extra lights and a winch to my truck. And I am looking at upfitter switch options to be able to add 3-4 switches. I searched, and the options I found for the 04-08 had them in areas I don't have (due to having a column shift and no center console) or they were next to the middle cig lighter, which would always be blocked by drinks, due to my cup holder being directly in front of that area. So I don't like those options. I think the easiest option would be to mount them under the headlight switch, but they wouldn't be easy to see.
I'd really like to mount them by the sunroof, like CustomFX's swicth panels for the 09-14 trucks, but don't know if his will work with my year truck. The second option I like is to mount them in the door, above the vent that defrosts the window, but that would mean running the wiring into the door.
What is everyone running for switches in these trucks? I mainly want to be able to easily see them, so I can tell them apart and not accidentally turn on the wrong ones. Would be crappy to want to turn on my extra front fog lights, but accidentally turn on my back up / rear work lights which would blind the person behind me.
Here is were I'd really like to put them
And this was the option above the vent for the window.
So after some back and forth with KustomFX, I may be able to fit one of his newer switch panels on my truck by the sunroof area. I have to take the headliner out this weekend to see if I have the depth to make the panel fit. The panel for the 2015+ trucks is 8 1/2" at the top, and 7 1/4 at the bottom and is 1 1/2' tall. I have 9 1/2 inches wide, by 1 3/4" tall of an area. Just have to take it apart to verify depth.
If I don't have the depth at that spot, I know I have the depth in front of the dome light / sunroof / rear slider switches. That area is 2 1/2" deep. BUt I'd have to use one of the smaller universal panels at that spot.
I'll take the front section of the headliner out this weekend and see if I have the room, and will post my results. Then if I can make one fit, I'll post some install and final product pics.
So after taking things apart today, I cannot use the KustomFX upfitter panel in my truck. So I will just add the in the area under the headlight switch on the left side. Going to go ahead and install the light bar, and bumper light wiring this weekend.
