i like it better without the chrome. But idk how to get it off without breaking the bank or messing up the paint.

those pieces cant come off? u can always plasti dip the mirrors black. and use red plasti dip over the other chrome trim. the red dip matches pretty good cuz my brother has a red fx4 that looks like urs and he uses that red dip

The flares are probably attached with trim adhesive. A heat gun can be used to soften it to make it easier to work, and dental floss can be used to separate it from the vehicle without messing up the paint.

Have a friend heat it up with the heat gun while you work the dental floss through it like a saw. Once the piece is off, Goo-Gone can be used to remove the excess adhesive from the paint without damaging it.

Once off feel free to paint/color and re-attach, or simply leave them off.
