I believe,and this was after 11 hrs of working on it...if I remember right ,from center to center of the drop bracket bolts I measured 5.5.

Ok. The RCX is a 5" drop bracket, so I was only able to safely stretch it another 1.5". If you have a 6" drop bracket, you can stretch it another 2.5" for 8.5 total.

Mmmmm ...taking a stab here without liking at it but it sounds like you got some slight bind-up at the axle.You didn't by chance crank down on one side of the U-bolts unevenly from one side to the other? You may just need to loosen the U bolts and finesse the axle a bit and retighten the bolts.May take four hands as well.Regardless it's gotta be something fairly simple.

So far it seems that the noise is coming from the left rear leaf spring. The u bolts are all tight and I did my best to tighten them evenly. I may pull it apart and redo it and see what the outcome is.
