You need an exhaust because of it's sound?

That's because it their only vehicle, nice to think of the f150 as a little mustang with its 5.0, but its not.

OWRLY?
What sort of performance are you doing? Racing in what series? Stop light drags?
Maybe that's what my original premise was about, the F150 was not designed as a perfomance/sportscar/racecar/competition vehicle....
My 150 gives me great performance in daily driving, from on ramps, to passing, to being able to hold a 60mph speed with a 24 foot trailer on a hill in the mountains.

^ exactly. Not all of us have the resources nor funds to have access to "performance" cars and trucks. Some of us will never build a race motor or drive a "performance" (race) car in our lifetimes, no matter how much we might want to. I think you are very fortunate to have the ability to work on/drive such cars. I don't think that gives you the right to judge or make assumptions that ALL of us that put professionally engineered exhaust systems/custom exhaust on our trucks are obnoxious and trying to prove something. You think its a waste of money (that comes from OUR pockets) but I'd be willing to make an assumption that there are many people who consider race cars (NASCAR, Indy, drag cars, etc.) a waste of money or loud and annoying. I don't feel this way, but I know many people who do.

Go back to my original post. I was simply asking why some people go out to buy an exhaust simply for the reason for making it sound louder as their 1st reason for spending money on an exhaust.
Actually, I just texted Robby Gordon to peruse this thread and let me know what he thinks. I will copy his reply here once I get it.

Performance vehicle or not, there is also the fact that some of us just plain don't give a **** whether other people agree with our reasoning or not. I pay for it. I want it loud and don't care if I get 5 extra horses. If it offends someones ears, they can **** up a rope. This same argument could be made for ANY mods from simple rubber upgrades to the ever popular plasti-dip ocular assault. Don't belly-ache if it ain't your ride.

I rest my case with this reply...... I guess I see what I am up with since I got my 150 and joined this forum. So many of you helped me decide on a 150 this spring, have given me a wealth of information, upgrade ideas, options, etc.

OK, I got the fact that you won't get the full potential out of an aftermarket air intake running a stock tune but I'm not quite sure what you're getting at with the O2 sensors. Please tell me that's a typo?!?!
