You need an exhaust because of it's sound?

I'm almost 50 and I love the sound of my V8 and have nothing to prove or have to be accepted in the den. I own my own house I have a management position in world wide manufacturing corporation I've already earned the respect of my peers. I bought my Borla Atak catback because it cost a lot of money that is made of high quality stainless steel with mandrel bent pipes yada yada yada that incidentally I have and can afford purely for it's sound I didn't even care if it gave me a performance increase. My truck was never on dyno and never will be.
LOL and your point is? I'm sure I could find something you blow or waste your cash on but the thing is it shouldn't matter it's not your cash.

When I had my 2012 I tried dual exhaust. 1,200 dollars later, after buying a drone free exhaust system (Yea right) and a month of working with the manufacturer; I was unable to get rid of the horrible drone even using two different mufflers, two different resonators, and an exhaust insert. With my 2013, I will not even dare bring a dual exhaust near it. Sometimes it's not even worth it.

Everything in front of where it broke is intact... cats still there, its a dual set all the way back, one cat per pipe, broken where the cab and box meet

O yea, the original question? While hauling crap, A**, pulling a trailer and 2wd'n because I dont have a 4 wd, I have a nice well sounding, louder, here my shift points, all cylinders firing in tune and sweet talk to me when I want you too B**ch, and make my heart pound while putting a big smile on my face kind of exhaust, but yet quiet enough when I want it to be, to look like that old guy going down the road with two hands clamped onto the steering wheel with no idea of whats going on around him. Did I leave anything out?

The other night on the way home from the drive-in (We're the Millers - funny as hell, btw), I believe that it was my exhaust note that turned that deer's eyes in my direction. An unlit county highway with farmer's fields on both sides, in the wee hours of the morning can be treacherous. Thank you, Borla ATAK!

Team Canada, You're probably sorry you asked by now. Mostly young guys that have to impress their peers so as to be accepted into the den. Just like the guys with the Air intakes but leave the O2 sensors in with no tuner to actually change the fueling. All money out the new exhaust pipe with no real gain other than noise and what their imagination conjured up. Fun to be senior now and watch the same behavior we did 40 or 50 years ago to make our cars look bad with no real change or improvement either. Although we could build RAT and Mouse motors that really made a difference for next to nothing by today's standards. Most of these kids won't even know what those are.....
I hear ya, but back then we would be building our engines from a base block, building it up from a strictly power point of view. Taking them to the local drag strip on Friday night so we could claim low ET with our friends or seeing how good we were on the road courses. We weren't changing computer controlled, still under warranty engines that every other F150 we see on the street has the same basic engine setup.
Yeah, I guess I am sorry I brought up this thread as it surely seems to have pee'd off a few people, but to me, a louder exhaust comes with having built up a custom engine, custom parts, and on a vehicle designed for performance, not a pick up, and if anyone with any truck here wants to disagree, I'll take you on any track with my SRT8, from a drag to road course and kick the crap out of any amount of money you spend on an engine.
I love my 150, it does exactly what I ask from it, from pulling a car hauler, travel trailer, and it is comfortable as a daily driver, unlike the pickups of old. But, do I need it to sound like I am in a chest pump with so many more high performance cars out there?
