Kinda what I'm afraid of??
If it burned a fuse setting there at idle, you'd think they could narrow it down?
Anybody know what the ignition switch feed consists of?

Almost sure there's a wire or connection shorting out.....and was almost sure they'd know what wires and connections to check too?
I'd also think if that fuse blew while at idle, that it could be traced down with a little effort???

I think you should explain to them in depth how if they refuse to look for anything and your truck lights up, it's on them. If it's totaled, YOUR insurance won't pay (if they think it's a warranty issue and not a vandalism or spontaneous issue) the dealer's insurance will pay for a new truck. That's what the insurance company told my dad.

That's what I plan on telling them when I go get it after work tomorrow. I'm calling them in the morning to see if they can think of anything else to check before I come and get?
If it dies on me on the way home...I'm gonna be pretty pissed off to say the least!!

The chances of the truck catching on fire are incredibly slim. That is why all power circuits are protected with fuses.
Some wiring shorts are incredibly hard to find. They can be temperature related, the steering column position can affect it, or it can be an internal fault in any module.
If it were at my dealer, I'd install a circuit breaker and take the vehicle home with me and drive it to duplicate it. They shouldnt charge you more than two or three hours of diag, especially if they don't find the root cause.
I wouldn't worry about a fire, that's so rare it's not even worth concerning yourself with.
They need to install a breaker and start looking into the harness if they haven't already. Bending and flexing all circuits that are protected by that fuse, and flexing connectors at modules. Give them time, wiring isn't a cut and dry type of diagnosis. Good to see you are calm and not flipping out, as that would only make things worse.

I know sometimes it's not that easy to find a short, bare wire, or loose connection, but the way they explained things, it doesn't sound like they looked very hard?
I'm not really worried about it catching fire, I'm more concerned that it's going to die while my wife or 18yr old daughter is driving it down the road, or, if & when it does it again, replacing the fuse won't fix it and it'll have to be towed again? I am going to ask them that if it does it again and a fuse won't start it, that they'll pay to tow it in. I'm very rural, about 25 miles from the nearest small dealer and about 60 miles from one of the largest Ford dealerships in OK (where I bought it and where it's at now).
We're going to take my mom's 09 Expedition Limited to Phoenix, since I really don't trust my F150 all the way to Phoenix and back for a week.
My wife @ daughter are leaving for a week going on a cruise with my mom, sister and kids...so I can drive it to work & back for a week to see how it does?
I'm just not happy about paying for a 60 mile tow and them looking at it for a week w/o finding anything wrong...and they don't sound to concerned about it either. And I'm pretty sure it'll do it again??
I'll know more about it tomorrow and see what they have to say about if it happens again...if its on their dime or mine??

Called my dealer to ask about my AC seat filter and they told me it was like a 3 hour job, have to remove the seat, its a real pain they said. Thinking this sounded like complete BS I went and lifted my seat all the way up and looked under it, filter is right there easily accessible, changing it takes all of 10 seconds once you've done it once. Surprised some techs can even dress themselves properly, lol! Good luck with your problem, keep us posted if they fix it.

One thing if they cant duplicate if the remote start is plug and play I would disconnect it and see if that helps. Some shorts are hard to find and can take days. Another thing after it happened does the remote start work still. Did you start it remotely when it stalled? If the remote start doesn't work the remote start module has fuses internally. 5amp ignition fuse. Just a couple ideas to throw around.
