I'd like to see the real life mileages compared. One of the most aero dynamic configurations you can have on a truck is "no bed cover, with tailgate closed" this makes a locked vortex of air behind the cab that is contained by the bed . And the least amount of friction will be seen from the air to air pocket created by the locked vortex. The configuation in the movie would react much like having a bed cover. And I know my covers on every truck I've ever owned has cost mileage. Not as bad as a bed cap but a noticable decrease

Dude bondo, you are a fellow Texan as I, tell me, do you know of anyone else who has one of these....what to call it: topper thingy?
If not, I saw you going down the road one day and damn near wrecked my truck trying to figure out what my eyes were seeing!
Good luck on your project, we'll see you out there!

Hmmm...similar (sort of) to what the prerunner guys are doing to the bed of their rigs. Here is what I mean, serves the same purpose I suppose while still being visually appealing. Nice idea you have there though, I give you props for creativity! Some refinement and you could be on to something big, Aim high!
