XLT vs FX4
#31
Got an XLT because I was being cheap thinking its my first new truck, doesnt have to be fancy. A month later I wish I had spent the few thousand extra and got the paint to match FX4 with a flow through console. The jump seat consoles in the XLT's are AWFUL. If I had the funds to trade in and upgrade I absolutely would but I'm just sticking it out until I can pickup a "fancy" super duty

I realize that, I'm really love my xlt coming from a 98 Sierra, but there is no comparison with fx4 full center console with center mounted shifter leather heated cooled seats, the fx4 402a is truly a luxury model

I was all set to buy a 13 XLT, then I saw the FX4 parked on the rocks at the dealership. It ended up costing an extra $100 a month but I don't regret it at all. When I drive home in those heated seats after the winter we've been having it's all worthwhile!

I went from an '11, XLT with every option possible on an XLT, to a '13 FX4, Eco, Max Tow with everything possible for an FX model. Zero regrets here, I love all of the 402a creature comforts. My favorite FX features are.... The blacked out, projector HID's, love the oem textured flares even if they provide almost no additional protection. I love Hill-Descent control on icy/ snowy driveways ( not sure if that comes with the XLT off-road group?) I love the sportier cluster, with the red hashed tach (I know minor detail but still)
I hated the chrome on my '11 XLT from day one, and never warmed up to it in the two years I owned the truck. I never thought I would like a console shifter in a truck , (I'm in the minority of truck owners that love column shifts) but I LOVE the console shift now that I have it.
My only FX4 regret is getting the 20" wheel pkg. Only because they scratch really easy, if you actually drive your "FX4-Off Road" you know actually "Off-Road" lol.

I picked the XLT because the center fold down seat. I hate the center console with the shifter. All it took was owning 1 truck with it and I will never make that mistake again. I had the 2 tone leather put in mine for $1000 and love it. I guess I will be driving XLT's on this fact alone.

I was ready to sign the paperwork on the XLT when I asked the dealer just out of curiosity, how much more would my payments be with the FX4. At that point it was a no brainer. I'm very happy with the FX4.

Kickin it
Had a platinum and now a new FX4... I wouldn't be able to go any lower from now on. Almost bought a XLT originally and once I sat in the platinum it was a no brainer. Way too nice inside. And now having the new MFT and all that extra good stuff I would never go to anything less than a FX4. Probably gonna wait on the F250 update looks wise and snag me a platinum in that next

Like I said I love my FX4, and would only go that route or higher from here forward (God willing of course) but it's no secrete when you factor in best overall value, including re-sale down the road. The XLT loses the least depreciation.
If you keep your truck 7-10 years, after that duration they are all worth the same money, no matter if it's an STX, XLT, King Ranch, Lariat, Platinum, or FX4. Perhaps the Limited models and Raptors will maintain a higher re-sale.
