Default X-Plan Pricing / negotiating

Hey all - relatively new to the boards but have been browsing for a while. I am in the market for a 2010 Lariat SCrew 4x4 with a few options. The company i work for is eligible for x-plan pricing, which is invoice + 5% - retail incentives.

For those of you that have used the x-plan to purchase, are you able to negotiate the pricing at all?

I'm thinking MSRP of what I want will be around 43-44k. How low can i expect a dealer to go?

I did the X-Plan pricing and the deal would not go any lower due to the rebates at that time. I did however get $4500 in rebates as I used Ford Credit with 1.9% financing.

In my one experience with an X-plan pricing PIN, they would not negotiate. They claimed "it was fixed at that price" minus incentives. It was a fine deal, in my opinion. The only thing I was able to negotiate on was getting a bit more for my trade-in.

However, it has been my understanding that some people have been able to negotiate better deals without bringing the whole "x-plan concept" into play.

Maybe go in knowing what your X plan price would be before-hand, then try negotiating without it. If all else fails, whip out the x-plan option and get it done that way...

How can I figure out what x-plan pricing would be with options? The partner website just has the pricing for the base model.

I think x-plan price is invoice - .4% + $275 doc fee. I bought my truck for around $100 less than x plan price. The x-plan is the way to go imo because it is fixed. They will just make the money back in glass etching, excessive doc fee, etc... I caught the $280 glass etching fee and made them redo the paperwork, then later saw they added $100 doc fee. They are pretty sneaky about it, they do it everyday and, in my case once every few years. Next time I will go x-plan and skip the games.

You can go to one dealer (if you have a couple close) and find one for around the same price and ask for x plan price. Then go to dealer with truck you want and see if they will go lower than what you know the ballpark x plan price would be.

Myself I have used the z-plan i think is the one for relatives and also the x plan. Get set price and any rebates and incentives offered at the time.
My recent one was around 9600 dollars off the x-plan price.

Just to clarify my above post, I asked for the x-plan price. I then told them I had to think about it and walked away. They called me a couple of days later and said they had a great deal. The price was around $100 dollars less than x-plan, which I accepted. This is when they added doc fees, etching etc which actually madet the price higher then the x-plan price. It is my understanding they are not allowed to add this with x-plan. I will stick with x-plan from now on. You have the flexibility to go to any dealer that accepts the x-plan and has the exact truck you want and there are no pricing games.

You can negotiate less than X plan (I did), but as you found out doc fees are capped at $75 with X plan, so it sounds like you found the best deal. I have found that there is no set "forumla" for calculating x plan, it varies from model to model. Just make sure you get to look at the invoice to verify the x plan price.

mkett39, how did you get $9600 less than x plan?
