Can't help with the rental questions. But just wanted to say that I'm glad your family is ok. Sucks to have a new ride wrecked but great to see the truck did its job.

The company should have a 24 hr claim number. I am surprised the person you spoke to didn't ask you about a rental. If you want to PM me I'd be happy to help you out maybe even get you a number to talk to someone. Don't want to blast a company on the forum publicly.

Glad all are okay. Poor truck looks bad. Rental coverage usually something you pay for as add-on. Would tell you on your policy information. More is better on rental coverage. I spent a fortune on renting a Focus 12 years ago while I was getting truck fixed.
Most rentals don't like you crossing state lines so that could cost you more. Might look at uhaul if you need to haul a lot of stuff.

Jerry, I feel hour pain brother! Got torpedoed early this morning by a red light runner. I'm sick about it and like you have to wait until Monday to hear anything. I can tell you this.....if they can't bring my truck back to new condition and guarantee the drive train.....we're gonna have some problems! :explicit:

First, Glad everyone is alright.
Second that looks awful, looks like frame, cab, suspension and power train damage. might be close to a total, but hard to tell without running the numbers.
Third, Insurance and responsibility laws change from State to State so i am not sure what applies in yours. But generally, Third party liability claimant (you) is entitled to a rental of equivalent to the loss. So you can request a truck as a rental if you want.
Depending on the company and the claim rep, they might not tell you about this and offer you a compact for a rental. You can have anything up to, and including a truck.
Fourth, in most likelihood, the Adjuster will not volunteer and information, if you have a question about anything, ask a question, ask a lot of questions. Be nice and understand that they are not magicians, and that you will have to do some legwork to get what you want.
If you truck is repairable, they will use Aftermarket parts to fix your truck. Body panels and molding parts are OK aftermarket. But insist that all safety equipment (breaks, suspension, airbags, steering, headlamps, etc.) be OEM. Do not let them talk you into aftermarket parts for those. Also if you have an ESP, inquire with your dealer on how this will affect it.
If you truck is totaled, do not accept their first offer. Do you research, look for similar trucks and how much they cost RETAIL, do not settle for anything less. After all you will be paying retail to replace your truck. And don't forget about tax, title, and any mods you put on the truck. Also any ESP, rust protection or paint/interior protection you might have purchased.
If you need more info, PM me, I will be happy to answer your questions.
