Would you trade, or am I over reacting?

I looked up your mods -
Magnaflow system, 34" Firestone Destination on 20" Rims
And have you received your programmer? Adding these mods will not help with fuel economy in my mind. Granted, I think you should be getting better fuel economy even with those mods.
Couple questions though:
What type of trailer are you pulling, does it have large frontal area?
Are you using the truck computer for checking mpg?

The 5.0 will get same or worse mpg. You will not save any money at all on gas. If you want - cheaper to buy 3.31 gear ration if fuel is the issue. Otherwise, it may be your driving style.
At 80 or more I still get 17+ on hwy on my EB. Have to imagine a 5.0 would be no better.

Does not matter you can't get a fx4 period without 3.73 the Eco has a better fuel rating than the 5.0. You would have to get lariat or xlt to get a 3.55 but that will hurt towing. The 3.73 help more than you know while towing.

I had a 2010 FX4 and I agree you won't get better mileage. But I did all the research on the new Eco boost I drive and I also feel its not living up to what Ford said it would be. In response to above statements I'm sure the salesmanship hype wasn't the only thing that sold him on the truck. I still love my new truck but would be lying to say I wasn't a little disappointed.

Don't tow that often. It is a flatdeck trailer with various loads from 5000-8000lb.
Would a 3.55 ratio work if you kept the transmission in 5th? Seemed to me that with the 3.73, I watched instant economy on my Eco, and while rtowing switching to 5th actually improved the mileage. Should be more of a difference with a 3.55 final ratio I would think?
