Your problem has more to do with the weight distribution of a truck and no locking rear dif than it does with tires. Somewhat disingenuous to say you got stuck when a push of the button would get you out. I'm no defender of the Pirellis but there's a trade-off to street-biased vs serious M+S tires, you illustrated one end of the trade-off.

Upon doing more research it appears the "anti spin" feature on these trucks should of kept this from happening. Interesting.

If yours didn't kick in with that little bit of mud, then there is something wrong, bad sensor or something. It's the same electronic system that allowed the mustang to go up the hill and divert traction to the non spinning tire.

Yes, it should have. There's plenty of YouTube videos showing how well it works in all types of situations including one guy going up an icy hill that a Toyota is flat stick on. Shows how the rear tires both spin together.
