I have no idea why you can't get an eco in a regular cab. The parts are deveolped and it wouldn't cost Ford any money to do it....

All manufacturers have some "quirks" if you will.

(Although the real reason is to make you buy more truck than you need/want, so the price is higher and they make more money)

Yep, it's all about marketing. Putting an Ecoboost into a 126" wheelbase config is just a matter of the assembly line bolting a certain engine to a chassis. No, it won't cost them any money, but they want the Ecoboost to be able to tow 11,300 lbs in as many configs as possible, and a RCSB wouldn't be able to tow nearly that much. They figure nobody would buy a RCSB Ecoboost. Why? Because the 3.7 and 5.0 have plenty of power and fuel economy for that cab config. It's only the guys that want to have fun that want an RCSB eco. That's not a big enough market for them. They want to make more money, not to stay the same. So, you either go supercab or RCLB for an Eco, and that's quite unfortunate.

You can get it in Canada. Reg cab, 2wd, xlt 8 ft box. Seen a few around, go to ford.ca and you can build and price one.

We're talking about the regular cab short bed. The 6'5" bed.

I see that now. Thread title just said reg cab. I don't see anything wrong with buying one, buying a 6.5 bed, drive shaft and chopping the frame. Would be cheaper and should be easier than an engine swap.

Or get a 145" wheelbase truck and spending $2500 for a 126" wheelbase frame (I know it's $2500 because there's a guy on another forum building a 66 Ecoboost) and get a 6'5" bed. I'd feel safer doing that than chopping the frame.

Then dump the wife and get a Mustang Shelby GT500. Haha

I would take the wife over any GT500.

If you heard your wife who was never into cars or power get excited after driving a car with as much power as the ZL1 has, you wouldn't second guess the decision either.
