Default 2012 Cargo/Bed light issue

I have a 2012 Crewcab. It has a Cargo/bed light on the center top of the cab. When I turn on the running lights/clearance lights or one more turn to headlights the cargo comes on. I have a camper/ shell on the truck. At night the white light is reflected back in the cab and is a distraction. How do I turn off the cargo light when my running lights/clearance lights or headlights are on? I have read the manual and found out to turn off the inside cab lights but not the Cargo/bedlight. And if I can’t, shouldn’t the light be either red or amber since it’s a clearance light not a light used to “see” with? This is what makes me think I can turn it off somehow. Thanks for your time.

It's not a clearance light. It's a cargo light. I don't think it can be disabled. You could take the bulb out.

I do believe that mine will come on with the interior lights. I think you have to push and hold the dimmer switch to turn on and off. It is kind of a poor setup, the cargo light should have its own switch. Kind of a PIA IMO.
