I think it's overkill to have an idiot light as I check mine while I fill up with my other fluids but some sound like they want something like this so.....

There is no light for a reason. You don't need one.

there are so many lights that are unneeded what's 1 more? For those who top off when they check fluids, you people will never see it. For some of us it would be nice.
Ford chose to not put one on their trucks, now I know and will top off when I fuel. Had the light been there I wouldn't refill before the light came on, hood is usually iced up and hard to open so only refilling when I could fit 4 full liters was a plus for me.

I would drill the correct size hole put a gasket on it with maybe a little silicon sealer make sure the one part of the switch floats and when the level is low it is a straight line. Not really that hard at all but this is just an idea your version may be different

Not to divert this thread but is anyone else annoyed by how the windshield wiper fluid sprays. When you spray the fluid there should be a delay before the wipers go on. Instead the wipers go before the fluid hits the windshield and smears an awful mess. Sometimes when its real cold and icy/snowy the fluid might not even come out and the wipers will just F-up the windshield so you can't even see. This drives me crazy especially with all the salt. You should be able to spray without having the wipers go on. This is something I can't stand and might need to find a way to change. I only want the wipers to go when I tell then to, period. If they didn't use so much damn salt around here I probably wouldn't mind as much. Honestly I think its a flawed design.....unless there is something I'm missing

Also, the curtesy wipe is a joke. Thankfully you can turn that off. On older models you couldn't even turn that off.

Thanks for letting me vent. I appreciate any ideas or ways to change this.

Edit:
I decided to post this here because the low fluid light is a smart idea and thought you guys might have an idea on how to disassociate the wipers movement from the wiper fluid.

Most cars and trucks start the wipers before they spray the fluid I understand what you mean when you say it messes up the windshield. So If I wanted to fix this I would get a second pump instal a push button on the dash near the new fluid Low LED. You can then put the hose in just below the new fluid low switch so you know you have enough fluid to use it.

Many vehicles do have a slight delay before the wipers go. Usually about a second or two. That is pretty common. But my last two fords didn't. My Honda has a delay, and if you only spray in short bursts the wipers will not turn on at all. Thanks for the idea, but I'm hoping for an easier fix like a wire or relay that can be changed that disconnects the windshield wiper fluid functionality from the wipers movement.
