Did you know that JC Whitney sells a windshield washer heater kit? It heats up the washer fluid before it comes out the nozzle, so the hot fluid melts the icy windshield faster.
I have seen kits like that.

8 Feet of washer hose! Splice it in and wrap it around a radiator hose. Makes for a perfect washer fluid heater. Catch is, you have to have a warm engine for it to work! LOL..

I feel like it would be fine to use Rain-X and other things.
That's sort of funny since I bought my first jug of orange Rain-X to eliminate the "squeaking, chatter noise, streaking
and smearing" caused by the OEM blades. Smooth as silk now after using Rain-X.

All I have ever bought is whatever is available. Never had any issues whatsoever. I don't know what Ford's "specifications" are when it comes to washer fluid, but I don't think there is anything out there that could truly be detrimental to the wiper system. In fact, in my entire life I have never heard of anyone having issues with any type of fluid, other than watering it down too much and having it freeze in winter.

I've been using Prestone and Rain X with no problem's. Love bug season down here and keeping the windshield clean is a must.

Crappy tire here in Canada used to sell an electric version, I bought one for my old Ranger when the price dropped under 10$. It worked ok for the first few months then crapped out.

Ones that are branded Rain-X, Prestone, etc. work just fine, but beware, there are some "bug" type washer fluids that will freeze, so check the label to make sure its good to -20, or you might be in for a nasty surprise one cold morning. It may be summer now, but that doesn't mean you will use up all your fluid before winter hits. We had some of that stuff, didn't know it wasn't freeze proof and found the crap had frozen in the tank, and we didn't have any washer fluid at all. One of those holy s**t moments.
-20 stuff is good for late fall and early spring, but I will be swapping the stuff out that is in there now in my new truck for some stuff they have at Cenex here that is good to -60. It works really good and I even use it as a de-icer when we get the really nasty days. I find the rating is only good to within about 20 degrees or so, I have seen it as sluch at zero which really isn't all that cold for winter.

The rain-x addidtive has me thinging tho now, I might need to look for some of that if it would help keep the bug cleaning down.. thanks for th headsup!

LMAO!

I've been using Rain-X bug wash in the summer and sometimes Rain-X anti-icing stuff in the winter. In several vehicles. And have never had a problem with any of it.

The worst thing is to leave the vehicle in the sun day in/day out and have the wipers dry out. That's when streaking/poor performance happens.

I live where it doesn't get cold and have been using just water for years.
