Thumbs up Wilson 4G Cell Signal Booster

I just recently purchased this booster and thought I'd post up a review in case anyone else was looking for one.

I run the Route 50 corridor between Parkersburg and Clarksburg, WV and there are some major dead spots along that route; hence the reason for the booster. I bought it this past Saturday and threw it in the truck Sunday...wires hanging and all. Plugged it in at the house and immediately went from 2 bars to full signal. I've since been from Charleston, WV to Pittsburgh along I-79, Clarksburg to Parkersburg along Route 50, and south again on I-77. Dead spots are a minimum now even along Route 50. Overall I'm extremely pleased with the booster.

Today I finally got time to wire it all in properly. There is an exterior antenna that magnet mounts to the roof, a booster, power cord that plugs into the cigarette lighter, and an internal antenna. I decided to slightly notch the 3rd brake light and run the wire into the cab. I removed the front seat and center console (8 bolts) and ran the wire for the power and internal antenna under the carpet to the rear seat. The booster is in the small cubby under the rear seat and everything comes in there. The internal antenna is mounted under the cupholder in the center console.

Thanks for the review. What kind of range outside of the truck does it have?

You really have havbe close to the interior antenna to get signal. Wilson says 2' I think, but 12-18" is where I get the best signal. Start moving farther away and the signal begins to drop. If I have full signal in the front, passengers in the back seat may only have 3 bars.

The phone does not have to be plugged into a cradle and will support multiple users.

Wilson makes a great product. I have the Sleek 3G cradle booster and it works awesome. Signal was tough to hold at the family cabin, but with the booster I had 4-5 bars all the time. Great for checking emails and texts. It would be tough to hold it all to your ear for calls, but I never make calls anyway.
It also allows me to check in over an hour sooner when I am on the drive home from snowmobiling.

Make the antenna ground to the frame of your truck. Or shave down the paint on the center console screws and mount a wire from antenna to there. It would give you 4 bars in BFE.

Can you explain this? Are you referring to the exterior antenna? I'm assuming I'd need to strip that wire back (looks like coax) and tie a ground to it? Sorry...I don't have much electrical experience at all...

Yes sir. You cn literally keep the antenna in tact and run a wire from the antenna port to the ground to chassis or console bolts.

My exterior antenna is a 2.5 foot tall whip attached to my headache rack. The interior is that same pad the op has. My S5 has to literally touch that thing or the booster does nothing for my phone. I have thd metal amplifier like in the 801212 kit they sell. It works alright. I have next to no cell reception almost everywhere I go so it's almost mandatory to have one.
