Will these mods kill my mpg's?
Hey All,
Just picked up my new 13 SCab 4X4 3.5 Ecoboost.
I love it.
I bought it for the MPG's and it's great, but Im dying to do some mods, but don't want to kill the MPG's.
I'm thinking of either a Fabtech 4 inch lift OR just doing ICON or King coil overs with a UCA.
I want to put Toyo OC AT or HT with some 18's.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Raising your truck and putting taller/wider tires will affect your MPG in a negative way. With a 4" lift I take it you are going to put 38" tall tires on it. You will also need your speedo recalibrated too.

I was hoping to put 35 inch tires but could be
satisfied with 33's
I knew it would effect the mpg but I guess
the question is by how much?
Are we talking 1-2 mpg or a lot more?
Thanks!

Higher will give more aerodynamic resistance, but the weight of the tires is the killer. Look up the weight of your stock tires (tire rack has a lot of this info), the look up the weight of the tires you want to put on it. Tire weight will reduce mpg anywhere from 1-5 mpg depending on size and weight.

You bought your truck "for the mpg"....did you get the 3.73 gears? If you have one of the lower (numerically) rear gear sets, then it is going to affect your mpg even more with a lift and heavier, bigger tires.
There are members here who have posted that they got over 18 mpg with their truck before the lift and tires, and are now unable to get more than 12 mpg. With the price of gas being what it is, to me this simply does not make any sense.
The EB is VERY sensitive to throttle application and spins the turbos up quickly. The more throttle it takes to get the truck moving and keep it moving is going to collapse the EB's mpg.

how the hell do you fit 38's with a 4 inch lift.... and if you could you would want to re-gear ...forget about the speedo re- cal
