The custom tunes I have seen do not require you to run 93. They ask what octane you are running or plan to run and also if ethanol is common in the fuel in your area.

Having a governor of any sort is dangerous. I am seriously thinking about a class-action lawsuit against Ford.

There is HP and touque waiting to be released in these trucks! As was stated earlier, the programming is on the side of caution and conservitive. Example, the 2011 F-250,350,450's, Gm waited to bring out their numbers until Ford did and they were king of numbers then Ford went back a "reprogrammed" to get extra HP and tourque making them king again. If you bought one proir to the adjustment you can go in and have you truck tuned to make the new numbers which were a pretty good jump!

As for advancing the timing to hold out for higher octane,... I'm just not sold on this as a performance enhancement...... IMO it's more like making the truck need to guzzle more expensive gas.

hmmm not exactly what I wanted to read...I'm used to shifting my own gears, the transition to an auto is going to be difficult enough for me...oh well, I've got a little while with the manual still before I get around to buying a new truck.
