Default Will it do more harm than good?

This goes with my last post. Will it harm my truck or the modules if I put the ecm/pcm I just got from the bone yard in my truck and try to start it. I have on garage telling me I can but the truck would run messed up. And another tel me that it would try to rewrite vins and cause more harm than good. Anyone know which ones right?

Gonna check more of the wiring when I get home from work. If that's not it looks like I'm making a appointment with Ford.
