Default Will a 2008 Camper Shell fit my 2014??

So i'm taking an east coast road trip and am considering buying a camper shell opposed to using just my tonneugh cover so i can bring along more gear. BUT i don't want to spend the $$ on a new one. so i have found one in town that's for a 2008 same color, and for a short bed 5.5ft crew cab. my question is will it fit my 2014?? according to the charts out bed sizes are the same. anyone try this?

A camper or a topper?

I would say they should transfer back and forth, both a camper, and a topper, but I really don't know what you want.....

The top of the tailgates are different. Newer trucks have a small " wing" so to speak that helps with aerodynamics. There may be a way to make it work, but not without some modifications. Old style above, newer below.

Oh touche, I didn't think about the flared tailgate. I believe tonneau covers work on either, that's where my mind went.

My cap, topper, whatever you call it, has a plastic lip molded to fit the top of the 2011-2014 tailgate. It just bolts on to the window. It appears the rest of cap is the same. It MIGHT be possible to buy this part from whoever made the cap and make an older cap work on the newer trucks. But that is just a guess. It woudn't hurt to call Leer or whoever made the cap to see if this is possible.

An older cap MIGHT work with no modification. The bottom edge of the window would just sit on top of the tailgate instead of overlapping. Not sure how watertight that would be, or even if it would work.

ohhh... never noticed. I've really noticed it on the new ones but not these. hmmm... so technically the interior dimensions are the same but we have a bit of a lip in the rear. i wonder what kind of modification can be done to accommodate that lip. and if the 08' topper would be short on the cab side or the tailgate side.

if the tailgate on both trucks were the same then it would probably work
