Why no redline on the tach?
I've seen some videos other 2011 F150's and their tach's have the redline marked.
My '11 Lariat EB doesn't have the redline on the tach. Did Ford do away with it?!

Yeah, just go push the gas pedal all the way to the floor and when it hits the rev limiter you'll get fuel/ignition cut that sounds...interesting.

Why even put a tach in an automatic? It's not like you really need it. Everything is electronic now so why put a reline. It's not like the diesels where you can spin them apart at 4200 rpm.

Yeah, but it's nice to look at.
Saw a video years ago where some former driver was testing a 1930s GP car (these things would hit 195 mph). Anyway, he asked the owner why it had two tachs and, after a pause, the answer was "tradition."...lol

I drive all over the place in a 5 speed F150 without a tach (kinda broke "tradition" there) and I do it all by feel. Yes it would definitely be nice to have one, but for some reason Ford decided to make it an option for late model standards while a tach was commonplace on the autos. It's even more necessary to have one with an unsynchronized transmission where you have to rev match. When floating gears, life is so much easier with a tach. Fun to watch on an auto at times and good for guesstimating what gear the truck is in, but when the computer is keeping track of all of that internally still isn't needed.

Even with a standard trans you don't really need a tach unless you're winding up the motor in every gear for some reason. Synchros were out of my 5 speed Ranger and I could double clutch the downshifts as well as heel and toe them w/out looking at the tach - that truck was lot of fun to drive. Even in my track car usually the only time I look at the tach is when it's wound up on a straight - other than that just go by feel.

Mine has the red line marked. I think it's around 6k. What's your build date? I wonder how they decided which models are marked? Just random? My date is 5/11. I agree though that its not needed.
