Grabbed Wrong Oil - Options?
I'm in the middle of an oil change on a 3.5L Ecoboost., Old oil is already drained. Do I run with 4 quarts of 5W30 and go about five miles to get more oil or run the remaining 2 quarts at 10W30?
I don't mind running 4 quarts provided I am not going to damage the engine.

Ahhhhhh neither? Walk to the store and get what you need?
But if anything. Run the extra 2 qts of 10w-30. Don't run the truck two quarts low on oil especially a twin turbo......
But at the store pick up another 6 cuz you'll be draining it all.

Running a thicker weight oil can oil starve an engine. The tolerances are so tight these days that the thicker oil can not get into those tight tolerance areas.
Always run the weight that the mfg recommends.

4 quarts is still 2.5 quarts low and I wouldn't advise running your truck that way. Do you have any other means of transportation to go get some oil? I'd take a cab before I deliberately ran my truck with low oil.

Yup eco takes 6 qts., says so in the Owners Manual! Very Helpful info. In that big booklet... I've done all my own oil changes on all my vehicles, and plan to keep it that way!

depends on climate. 10w30 is perfectly acceptable in warmer climates.
a quote from castrol's website
"Switching from a 10W–30 to a 5W–30 during the winter months might be required if the vehicle is operated in an area that typically sees the thermometer dip below the zero mark"
