I find the screw has plenty of room for the car seat, stroller and random bags in the back seat. Then of course the bed for anything else you might need. I have yet to run out of room in mine yet.

Our 2013 SuperCrew is our family vehicle.

Two kids in carseats in the back. Wife and I in the front. There is plenty of room for a 3rd passenger in the back. In our Camry you can fit a 3rd in the back but it is a tight squeeze and the trip is not very fun.

We also went with the bench in front. For us it just made sense to have the flexibility to seat 6 should the need arise.

A Supercrew makes for a great family vehicle. I sold my Vette and got a Supercrew as I am now moving into the next phase of my life- got engaged, bought a house, and kids are in the near future. I don't tow anything regularly now, so my truck is just pretty much just for road trips and home improvement supply runs. The backseat in the supercrews is so spacious it's unreal. Whenever we go out with friends and other couples, they always want to ride with us. It will make for easy access to a carseat in the future and will be great for our family road trips. It sounds like you are on the right track. If you're going to use the truck for family road trips, you will definitely want a cap or a tonneau cover for additional cargo space with the cab full of people. When you get to that point, there are tons of helpful threads on here with pictures of different bed cover options!

we have both now. had my 03 screw for many family trips (one kid) - then got an 06 4x4 Expy - then a 11 2wd Expy (with tow package, wife's ride now) - and my 13 FX2 (no tow package). We still vacation in the Expy, but my daughter likes that she has more room in the back seat of my FX.

I have never had a topper on a truck though, that was one of the reasons we went to the Expy in the first place. Got sick of taking all of the blue bins out of the bed and putting them in the cab over nite - topper would have cured that. I am very happy with our driveway right now though.

We have a baby as well. My wife's 2012 Escape is excellent for handling the baby fence, strollers, toys, and etc.

But the real utility and comfort come from the F150. I have a soft tonneau cover on it and then added some more seals to make it 100% leak proof. We have the very rugged bedrug liner in the truck as it is perfect for all of the kids stuff. The cover rolls up easily afterward to accept larger, dirty cargo. Since it's carpet. It cleans up quickly and easily.

Don't forget you can always put on a truck cap/topper if you have dogs that you don't want in the cab or want more secure and taller weatherproof storage.

The only thing a SUV beats it on is 1 or 2 more seats at the expense of losing utility and a real sturdy, high capacity cargo floor.

My truck is both my daily driver and our family hauler. My wife was worried about back seat space before I bought the truck. Once I brought it home she sat in the back seat with our two kids in car seats. Her 6 foot father was sitting in the front seat was in the passenger seat in front of her. She was shocked that she had so much room. She mentioned that she has never sat in a vehicle behind her father and they both have had leg room. It will do the job as a people hauler, stuff hauler, and *** hauler.

After I had an SUV Mazda CX-9 that got totalled, I debated another SUV, a minivan or a truck. After looking through all my options, I went with the truck and have loved it. I have two kids and two car seats fit just fine and there's enough space to climb back there and strap them in. I got a bak hard cover and it has just as much or more storage space that's protected. Space for passengers is better than you'll find in an SUV. Here's my quick comparison.

Mileage- minivan great (25+), SUV average (18-22) truck still ok (16-18)

Storage Space - truck (fantastic), minivan (fantastic), SUV (sufficient)

Passenger space - truck (fantastic), minivan (fantastic), SUV (sufficient)

Price w/ discounts - all about the same when you consider the nearly 10k less than MSRP for trucks

Fun to drive and being seen driving - truck (great, customize away) SUV (pretty std), minivan ( don't need to say)

I do. But its much more than that. It gets used as a truck too. Once my wife is done with school it will be my DD again as i can afford to use it daily. I also feel safer with my son in the big truck than the little car plus I have a long commute and I get 38-40 mpg in the car.

Agree w previous poster. Came from a 2012 Acura MDX. More room more towing just as quiet and smooth same gas mileage better navigation. Safer, 4 wheels better, blah blah blah. More hp torque blah blah. Just better and happier. The tonneau cove does the trick.

My wife has a van and it does not matter where we go when were going as a family we take my truck. We have three kids now and everyone fits great plus you have plenty of room for anything else that you need or pick up when your out. However, right now my wife is pregnant with our fourth so unfortunately we will not be able to get everyone into the truck soon so Im pushing to trade the van for a Expedition.....
