They want to know if you had 4.56 gears put into your truck with the lift and bigger tires. They want to get back to a stock equivalent ratio to make towing easier with a 5.0.

Oh, yeah I did. I bought Nitro 4.56 gears from justdifferentials.com then had East Coast Gear Supply in Raleigh install them. Cost me right at $2k between gears and install.

I run 35" tires. I would not even consider anything higher than 4.56. I might even go as low as 4.88 if:

A. I towed a lot more frequently than I do now or

B. I ran 37s.

Overall 35s and 4.56s are perfect IMHO. 4.10s or 4.30s may not even be noticeable. Glad I went with 4.56s.

I have a few questions:

1. What are the specs on your trucks when stock? (year, engine, gears...)

2. What were your mpgs stock?

3. What are your mpgs now?

1. 2012, 5.0, 3.55 gears stock, SCREW, 4X4, 6.5' Bed.

2. I put my lift on after 1700 miles so I never had a good baseline for mpg, but overall after lift, tires, and gears, I'd guess I lost 1 - 2mpg.

3. I just drove 660 miles at 75 mph and averaged 14.3 mpg. Not sure what I would have averaged when stock at that mph, but hopefully you can judge it based off of what you get at 75 mph.

My old 2012 with the same specs, no lift, returned a constant 18-19 mpg at that speed. Have you compensated for the speedometer error?

I have the same truck 2012, 3.55, 4wd, long bed crew, 5.0, and at 75 with stock tires I get about 16.5 to just under 17 unloaded.
