They sure don't make them like they used to. True Detroit locker, manual lock front hubs, manual shift-on-the-floor transfer case, 4 speed manual tranny with granny 1st gear, no traction control, no stability control, just the ***** luvin wheel spinning mud throwin' go anywhere kind of fun you could get yourself into and out of.

Yeah I know it's almost splitting hairs but there is a difference.
Had our work f150 (2wd '13) stuck on the engine cradle with the back tires on ice. Deactivated all the nannies and it still wouldn't let us spin the tires through all the gears without advance crap kicking in and eventually the check advancetrac warning coming on til we shut the truck off.

The only thing worse.... would be all those frickin yellow and red warning lights flashing all over your dash. Even worse is having them stay on constantly. ...no thanks! I'll stay with the way Ford intended it to be. :frown:

I'm going to take my cluster apart one night... lol. No more lights! They don't flash though.. just the brake, abs and advance track light stay on. It alarms when you fire it up but you just clear them off the display and they stay gone.

Winter on snow and ice and particularly my off highway driving... utterly useless.
I had a close call with the damned advance trac yesterday. I pulled out of a parking lot onto a slightly wet road, right as I did that, some guy decided to turn left into where I was exiting. I punched it to get out of his way because he was completely oblivious, the tires spun on the wet road, the TC pulled power, and my first thought was "oh ****, engine's broke!" Second thought was "Brace for impact!" Luckily, the slight burst of speed before the traction control started waving it's finger at me going "naughty naughty!" was enough to get away from the guy, and he missed me by maybe a foot.

Traction controls are baloney.

I'm waiting for a tuner to be able to disable it.

So you pulled out in front of somebody and did not have ideal traction and it's traction control fault lol. Sounds like you would of just spun the tires and got creamed with out traction control

You will be waiting a very long time.... forever in fact. I own HP tuners snd it can't kill it... mostly because the trucks pcm doesn't control it.

I can't tell when advance trac is (or is not) working. I was on muddy back roads of the Jicarilla Res (NM). I travelled a couple of miles going from side to side and at one point was totally broadside with the rear in the ditch and front end on the road..... It felt like the axles were taking turn pulling, but not in any controlled fashion. Turning adv trac off did not seem to do anything. Svc tech said it was operating as designed.

I did better with my CJ-5 in which I controlled the vehicle....
