Default Where have you mounted a pistol/holster?

I've got a 2012 Lariat Screw, and I'm looking for a good place for mounting a holster.
*First off - please keep this non-political! I've searched, and got tired of reading about the pro-gun/anti-gun crap. I'm just looking for where you have mounted a holster, and how.

I've found that my Ruger LCP in a DeSantis pocket holster rides nicely in the slot where the brake controller would mount. The holster will stay put, and the gun can be drawn quickly. But I'd like a place to mount my M&P40 Compact. I read where someone was looking at mounting a holster to the side of the flow through console, and getting a replacement trim piece for later. I'd love to see a pic of that. I did buy the mount that straps to the dash, below the wheel. However, it's not for me. I hit it with my knee getting in and out, and it is very visible when the door is open.
I'd like to keep it out of sight, but with easy access (not in the console).
Thanks!

Default Inside Console Pistol Mount

There is at least one thread on the forum that covers this subject pretty well....without a lot of "other" conversation. Here's how I did my inside the console setup:

Blackhawk CQC holster with quick disconnect system.

Bolted quick disconnect to the rear panel of the center console.

To do this, you must remove the top console cover and rear panel to get access to back of the interior panel. If you choose this method, be careful when you drill the rear panel holes as it is easy to create an unwanted "extra" hole in the rear seat vent tubes.

This setup will work with either left or right handed Blackhawk holsters.

Good luck.

Thanks for the pics! I haven't seen that holster mount before, I like it. That might work the side of the console, and then be able to also put it away in the console.

Now that's sweet! I need one of those. I'd probably mount it in the front part of the console on the side so I could easily reach it if some carjacker was about to have a bad day.

Northlight, i have seen your set up numerous times... Every time I see it I wonder why you did it that way? It is completely back asswards to me. You should have bought a right hand holster and mounted it. That way when you open it up, you can grab the gun and naturally be ready to fire. So you grab this gun with your left hand?

I have posted before, but I'll share again. Mounted the Right handed Blackhawk disconnect to the side of the center console. The weapon is hidden behind my knee when I'm driving. I just have to flip my hand over and hit the quick release. It is very easy and very fast to get to.

Default rdkev: I'm a lefty....

....so it is more than a bit "cross draw" for me.

I'm also of the notoriously long-armed variety of human (knuckles almost drag on the ground)....

codash, I'd be afraid to leave my truck though with that, wouldn't someone want to break in just because they SEE the pistol? I like the mount that northernlight has!
