I keep my phone in my pocket- where it belongs when you are driving. I have never linked a phone with my truck- nor will I ever. Hands on the wheel, eyes on the road, head in the game. NO phone call is worth my life. Merry Xmas

I take it you don't ever have passengers, either? Just as distracting, often worse.

I'm with you, mine is in my pocket. However turning the radio station is distracted driving, adjusting the heat is distracted driving, taking your eyes off the road for any reason is distracted driving.

You can sit here and type that you've NEVER done any of those? No one is that perfect.

The reason many of us have those Scosche mounts isn't to text or make calls, it's so the phone is safely in our line of sight when using our phone as a GPS.

Also, if you use voice controls on your phone it does work better when there's a clear line of sight to the phone. Since my wife and I both work and hit traffic, one of us always has to send a text to the other about who has to pick up the kids for daycare. When the phone is on the dash I can say "Hey Google, send a text to my wife saying 'I'm picking up the girls'", and the text is sent without ever having to touch or look at my phone.

I really prefer the "Brodit" aka: "Pro Clip" mounting.

It's a 2 part system... you get a mount system specific for your truck (they have 3 choices for our F150's I believe), then you have the phone mount. (specific for your phone and type of case on it, if any, ....including charging dock choices).

How solid that Proclip mount? I'm considering one for mounting an 8" tablet, possibly with a RAM mount for adjustability. Curious if the Proclip mount will handle this extra leverage/weight of the RAM.

No problem at all!!!

I bought the same mount, and had a separate 8" screen mounted on it for a rear reverse system for my 79 year old father!
He loved it (he just recently passed)...
But I mounted that bracket on the RH side with the screen facing the driver.

No issues at all! Their systems are not the cheapest, but they are worth it.

I'll take some pics later & post them up this afternoon.

This is the main reason I opted for the center console in the new truck! If I plug my phone in (usually only on long trips), I'll usually just place it in that center slot between the shifter and the cup holders. I really enjoy the storage that console provides (although I miss having the center floor space for my portable radio...).
