when to buy??
hey guys been looking at a 2013 screw 5.0 the dealer has a xlt for around 41,000 sticker and after all rebates and they lowered their price a little its down to around 34,850. i didn't know if i wait longer say after the 2014s are out will they drop in price more or offer more in rebates? there is currently like 5,000 in rebates for the 5.0.. iv never bought a new truck before so didn't know how exactly that worked.
If you're a good negotiator and willing to walk if you don't get the deal you want, almost anytime is a good time to buy. Incentive-wise, I'd be willing to bet that cash back offers will increase as the 2013 model year winds down and 2014's start popping up on lots, but I think there's still a couple months before that will happen. The current rebates and financing seem to be pretty good IMHO. I always see these posts claiming $10k-$12k off sticker price, but that seems unrealistic to me, even with crazy rebates, but who knows. Me, I like to keep my deals pretty simple. I hate paying interest, so I usually wait until I can get no interest financing. I asked for $1000 under invoice, got it with almost no resistance, and had a $750 private offer coupon from Ford. Wasn't eligible for any other rebates at the time because I took the financing. Dealer probably still made a little money from their holdback and I'm sure they get a bonus for me financing with Ford Credit, but sheesh, isn't that why they're in business? Gotta keep the lights on and let folks make a living.
Bottom line, buy the truck you want when you want. You can always scour the internet for a "better" deal, but then you'll never buy anything. If you can wait another couple months, sure, the rebates might get incrementally better, but that's a couple months you weren't driving your new truck. Life's short, enjoy it
