Default forward sensor maybe?

has anyone tried one of these for a forward sensor?

for $15 dollars i'm willing to give it a try. the reviews are a little mixed. it's primarily designed as a reverse sensor but if you can hook up a switch to turn it on when you want, there's no reason why it couldn't be a forward sensor.

does anyone know of a push button switch that stays on for 5 minutes and then turns off? that would be ideal.
