Water leak question.
I did a search but the posts seem to be mostly older generation trucks.
Anyway, this 2010 I bought last month (cold out) has been fine except for the frozen washer fluid. Well today we had a pretty good thunderstorm and then I was driving in the rain afterwards and noticed the back right of my headliner is wet and water is dripping pretty steady inside the cab.
I stop up to the local dealer(not the place I bought it) they took a look and said the high mount stop lamp and gasket need replaced. OK, How much? $145. OK, thank you for the diagnosis, how much do I owe you? $17.
Is $145 the going rate for that item and is it a common problem? If so I'll pay it other wise I'm thinking about taking it loose and running a bead of blue silicone behind it.
Ideas, thoughts?

Honestly, i had the same problem with my truck but it was covered under warranty, i watched them do it, they literally put silicon around the light, and it hasn't leaked since save your money. Im sure you can do the same thing yourself. Seems like they would just fix it since this is a know issue on them.

145 bucks is quite high for a third brake light cover, and gasket. I would just google the parts for a better price. And if it's still higher than you want to pay, the silicone should work fine.
BTW, you should have posted the problem here first. You would have gotten the answer for free. These light have a tendency to leak, and there has been several threads on the problem. Oh well, lesson learned.

Don't just glue it in place with silicon or other material. You may need to replace a light bulb someday. The fix is very easy and costs just a few dollars.

Just look it over closely.
If the light fixture is good, make your own replacement gasket with some foam or rubber seal from Home Depot or similar store.

SSM 44284 - 2011-2013 F-150 - Center High Mount Stop Lamp (CHMSL) Water Leak Service Tip
2011-2013 F-150 vehicles may exhibit a water leak from the Center High Mount Stop Lamp (CHMSL) area.
If CHMSL is isolated as cause of leak, replace per Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 417-01
(TIP: TORQUE RH FASTENER FIRST THEN LH FASTENER TO PROPERLYSEAT CHMSL)
DO NOT REPLACE CHMSL FOR WATER DROPLETS AROUND THE OUTSIDE PERIMETER OF THE CHMSL LENS OR A SMALL AMOUNT OF FOGGING INSIDE THE LAMP AS THIS IS A NORMAL CONDITION.
