Default 3.31

I went with the 3.31 on this model. I thought I wanted a 3.55 minimum, preferably a 3.73 but after test driving I was pleasantly surprised with the 3.31. Since I will be installing the supercharger the 3.31 is perfect so as to take advantage of the long gears. Granted my 2007 lariat had the 3.73 and 4spd auto, it would still shift to early. I ended getting a built transmission installed with Kevlar clutches and a shift kit and while this helped I still felt like I was shorting myself in the long run. I like that the 5.0 revs so freely and quickly gets into the power band. With a 3.31 you can really put the power down for the duration of the gear. Another determining factor is that I don't have anything to tow now and probably wont for the next 2 years so again the 3.31 is pretty advantageous for me.
I actually used the cruise control yesterday on the toll road and again today. I reset the instant MPG and locked in the cruise control at 70. I was really shocked to see the meter adjust and settle on 19.8 for the duration of the 44 mile drive. Before I installed the 93 tune I could net 19+ all day long with out cruise. After installing the 93 tune i have been lucky to average 15. HOWEVER, shortly after installing the tune I changed jobs and eliminated my daily 82 mile commute. I now work from home twice a week and go into the office 2.09 miles from my house the other days. All my driving has been short distances and I know this attributed to the mileage decrease. Well, my left foot has a lot to do with it as well
Back to the original post, the last thing I want to do is install the blower and destroy the axle hopping down the road. I have also not decided if I want to keep the 18s or get some 22s. I bought the FX2 for the sporty look. 22s are freaking sweet on this ride but I also don't want to rattle my *** down the road. 18s are a pain in the *** to find and often cost more than a comparable set of 20s. The dealership would not budge on giving me 20s, refusing to alter the package even though I offered to pay for them. The only FX2s with 20s had leather and navigation. I like the new leather with regards to its feel but I am absolutely certain my kids would tear it up. I didn't care for the NAV system in the truck and would rather put in a nice aftermarket Kenwood unit if I am so inclined.
Blah blah blah, back to work for me.
Thanks guys for the replies, keep'em coming.

The wheelhop is from the springs winding up and releasing the force as the tire fights for traction. On my truck it is exagerrated when it is not in a full blown burnout. Racers would use the slapper bars back in the day of rear leaf cars / trucks. Ive seen clamps used on the leafs forward of the axle also. Diesel guys build their own traction bars and tie them into the frame with heim joints to try and prevent axle wrap. Not sure what is available for the f150. Lifted trucks exaggerate the problem with tall leafs as the spring really wants to wrap up.

I am amazed we are talking about F150's and traction issues. I have owned every generation since the 80's. Not one of them would spin tires on dry pavement. But, I had an 03 F250 4X4 SC with the 5.4 and 3.73's and it would powerbrake and leave 1 long blackmark with the stock skinny 10 ply tires. Wouldnt even bark a tire from a dead punch though.
I digress. Back on topic.

I am fine with the wheel spin, I just want to keep them on the ground.

I have seen some pretty sweet custom fab setups with clamps on the leaf springs and square iron underneath that. I didn't find much yesterday. There is a new speed shop here I have been trying to get to but work and weather have made it impossible. If I can see them this weekend Ill let you guys know what I find out.

You guys are getting axel wrap. Modern flat leaf design sucks on almost all the trucks out there. the axel is trying to twist from the tq and its binding the leafs. After i put bigger grippier tires the problem got way worse. Finally eliminated 99% of the issue. I got a set of those roadmaster active suspension things. Felt like i was ordering a pep boys gimmick but dam the truck rides bitchen now. Almost like it slowed the rebound down in the back. No more wheel hop

Sounds like old school slapper bars. Pretty cool but usually drag racer thing. I didnt want to go that route since they hang down too low

All 2012's with ELD will lock in 2wd.
2011's won't.
