I got it, I think everything has good/bad days so I'm ok with the occasional mis-fire. Lol.

I was gonna post a "my $xx,xxx truck doesn't remote start, I hate Ford" but it's happened on Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes and Jeep too, lol.

I've found that if I lock and then press and start button once and then on the 2nd press hold it down works best for me. Seems like the starter needs that positive long hold on the 2nd press in order to "catch" and actually start.

Mine has the same issues. Lights flash but won't start sometimes. I was wondering if it had anything to do with engine temp or outside temp?

I have had similar issues with an after market remote starter. except in addition to not starting it would also engage the starter while running and even driving

I added the Ford 2-way remote starter a few months back. Worked perfect for a while, now sometimes it acts up too. The usual thing it does, is not respond back to confirm the truck is started. Occasionally it just flashes the lights but won't start. I haven't really looked into it myself. Probably won't take it to the dealer because they seemed a little lost on just the activation. I even had the Ford instructions printed and highlighted for them.

I had the same issues. Talked with the Service Writer. She said try the other FOB as the battery may be weak in the one being used. I thought, OK here we go again. Damned if that wasn't the problem. Works everytime now, so I guess I'll get a battery. You never know, that might be all you need.

Is the 2-way just a remote you have to buy? Or do I need to get something installed?
